[Solved] Norton Security - Detected Version Incorrect (Version incorrect in EXE)
-
For Norton Security VulnDetect detects the version 22.23.1.15 and recommends the version 22.23.1.21.
In the Help -> About window of Norton Security you see the version number 22.23.1.21:
So the recommended version is already installed!
The reason is, that the version numbers in the EXE file also show the wrong version numbers:
File name and path: C:\Program Files\Norton Security\Engine\22.23.1.21\uiStub.exe Product Name: Norton Protection Center Internal Name: uiStub Original Filename: uiStub.exe File Description: Norton Security UI Stub Company: NortonLifeLock Inc. Legal Copyright: Copyright (c) 2023 NortonLifeLock Inc. All rights reserved. Legal Trademarks: Comments: File Version String: 22.23.1.15 File Version: 22.23.1.15 Product Version String: 22.23 Product Version: 22.23.0.0
The only way to get the correct version number is the version in the path of the EXE.
By the way: SUMo detects the correct version, but uses an other file:
File name and path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NortonInstaller\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\NGC\562C4DD5\22.23.1.21\InstStub.exe Product Name: Norton Security Internal Name: Norton Security Original Filename: NGC_Generic_SuperMUI.exe File Description: Norton Security Company: NortonLifeLock Inc. Legal Trademarks: Comments: File Version String: 22.23.1.21 File Version: 22.23.1.21 Product Version String: 22.23.1.21 Product Version: 22.23.1.21 -
@OLLI_S Thank you, I've changed the file. Please report if that causes other issues.

The version number 22.23.1.21 is now displayed correctly.
@Tom: Thank you for fixing this! -
