Unfortunately PNG has no transparent colour, so I extracted the icon from the EXE with an icon editor.
In the icon file there are multiple sizes stored (so the icon scales).

Here is the new app-icon in ICO format:

Hopefully we will start revisiting those rules in a weeks time.
